The Quality Assurance Specialist will assist with supervising and overseeing all Quality Assurance related activities within a brand new 300,000 sq foot facility slated to open in Spring of 2025.  With QA Supervisor’s direction, responsible for adherence to quality and food safety standards during 1st shift operations, including training, planning, addressing product complaints, and providing corrective actions.

The Specialist will work directly with QA Supervisor and other site leaders to address any quality related issues and will carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, Federal, State, and local regulations that govern our business.

• Assist QA Supervisor with providing support to warehouse management staff ensuring required product quality and food safety.  
• Assists with development, implementation and enforcement of proper protocols and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements, including state and federal guidelines. 
• Supports Quality Assurance systems to satisfy internal and external customer requirements to include process evaluation and risk assessment, Food Safety Plan/Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation programs, and product storage and distribution practices. 
• Supports internal and external audits. Conducts regular inspections to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for generating hold-release forms, placing product on hold in SAP, releasing product in SAP (Systems Applications & Products)/enterprise resource planning software, and maintaining hold logs for the distribution center.
• Conducts daily/weekly facility inspections to include sanitation, pest control, product quality with focus on fluid dairy and leakers, temperature monitoring devices and physical facility temperature verifications.
• Provides QA support for rejected loads including investigating incidents and providing product dispositions.
• Assist with customer COAs requirements and generate documents as needed. Maintain Course of Actions (COAs) records related to all purchased products.
• Assists with disposal of product to ensure proper destruction steps are followed and the off-grade dairy product requirements are met.
• Assist with maintaining quality and food safety records. Assists with record review and corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensures proper calibration and maintenance of temperature recording devices.
• Investigates and resolves quality issues and customer complaints through collaboration across all warehouse functions and manufacturing.
• Trains and instructs employees regarding quality and food safety standards and processes. 
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Adheres to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values. 
• Other duties assigned by management.

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications...

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-based area (ex: Microbiology, Food Science, Dairy Science) of study preferred, or a minimum of 1 year in a lead role, preferably in dairy food manufacturing.  
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices. 
• Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures. 
• Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, LIMS (Lab Information Management System) application, SAP preferred.   
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.   
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.  
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
• Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
