The Digital Healthcare Systems group is seeking a highly motivated biomedical engineering intern to provide support to our Digital Healthcare division in summer 2024 or earlier. This internship will broadly focus on managing clinical data collected with various protocols, analyzing real-world physiological waveform data, validating our vital sign monitoring solutions, supporting clinical usability analysis, and leveraging human physiology knowledge to reveal new insights from clinical data to inform healthcare product design. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, willing to learn and work in a team, while having an interest and aptitude for basic programming and healthcare applications.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Analyze multi-parametric physiological waveform data from patients and perform exploratory investigation to identify trends and patterns related to human physiology that can inform product design and testing.
• Use statistical and programming techniques to measure and compare the performance of vital sign monitoring algorithms in different applications.
• Assist in testing and verifying the functionality and performance of vital sign monitoring software and hardware prototypes against industrial standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct clinical usability research on vital sign monitoring solutions and provide feedback and recommendations for product requirement design.
• Working with a multi-disciplinary team to help advance current healthcare systems projects.

Minimum qualifications

• Basic programming knowledge through coursework or projects
• Must enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team comprising of hardware, software, algorithm, and biomedical engineers
• Must be willing and enthusiastic to learn new concepts and methods related to data analysis and physiology

Preferred qualifications

• Basic data analysis knowledge
• Basic knowledge of physiology or clinical data
• Good technical communication and documentation skills
