Administrative Operations Manager, Dept of Surgery

Oversees all essential activities of the office of the Surgeon-in-Chief (SIC) to help ensure the direction, management, and implementation of the ongoing activities for the Office of the SIC. Provides and oversees the execution of administrative support of a highly complex and responsible nature to the SIC. Represents the SIC with a high level of discretion and initiative on services and projects supporting the Department of Surgery. Provides resources and leadership to ensure timely and appropriate communication, coordination, and follow-through between internal and external stakeholders including Seattle Children's senior leadership, University of Washington School of Medicine Department (UWSOM) Chairs & Faculty and associated medical staff. Provides business expertise to the SIC inclusive of the Department of Surgery, which includes 12 divisions. Plans, implements, evaluates and develops systems to support effective business operations of the Department of Surgery ensuring quality of service and the integration of these services to the hospital goals, vision and philosophy. Provides consultation and business expertise to the Surgeon-in-Chief and Department of Surgery leadership for each Service Line. Identifies means of improving financial viability of the services, including benchmarking and the development of business plans for existing and new business opportunities in line with organizational initiatives. Partners with academic and clinical leadership to expand the business expertise of the service. This role is a key partner to the SIC with a great amount of autonomy, independence, and responsibility to ensure efficient and productive business operations and successful outcomes for the Office of the SIC and the Department of Surgery.

  

Required Education and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or equivalent OR equivalent combination of education and experience. (Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program will be considered. Individual must complete program within three years in position and maintain solid performance).

• Minimum five years experience in progressive healthcare business management.

Preferred

• Experience in an academic medical setting.

• Experience in Surgical and Periop services.

• Experience in Lean principles- Experience with Continuous Process Improvement methodology.

• Experience in Pediatrics.

Compensation Range

$104,797.00 - $157,195.00 per year

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
