Lowboy Truck Driver

Description

Purpose:

The Lowboy Driver is responsible for safely and securely load, haul, and unload heavy construction equipment to and from our operations in the Lowcountry and Midlands regions in South Carolina, and the Richmond Hill / Savannah market in Georgia.

Essential Functions:

• Safely operate a Tractor to haul a lowboy trailer to transport heavy equipment and large loads.
• Ensure safe and efficient delivery of load(s) to and from destination.
• Ensure that the cargo is loaded and properly secured prior to leaving the yard.
• Properly track and document activity log, trip tickets, and other paperwork as required.
• Report any truck and/or route issues or incidents to dispatch.
• Inspect truck before and after trip.
• Ensure that truck cab is kept clean and tidy at the end of each workday.
• Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.
• Follow company-assigned safety policies and procedures without exception.
• Attend company-provided and/or company-sponsored training classes as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Class A CDL and clean driving record with current Medical Certification.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience operating a tractor and lowboy trailer.
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience safely loading and unloading heavy equipment from the trailer.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to work a variable-hour schedule.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, climb, and bend.
• Ability to work primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.
