Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is assigned to the Virology section of the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories in Jacksonville.

 

Responsible for entering and reviewing demographic information for the Virology and Serology departments in the LabWare laboratory information systems.  Works with Data Entry and providers to resolve issues with incorrect entries. Includes reviewing or entering demographics for high priority specimens immediately when notified.

 

Responsible for handling incoming telephone calls in the units.  This includes taking messages and referring calls to various lab staff as needed. 

 

Provides support with inventory and purchasing of supplies for the virology department.

 

Provides training to all employees in the unit during their probationary period or as necessary.  Training to include review of:

        1. Data Entry
        2. Validation
        3. LabWare Slips

 

Perform other related duties as instructed by Supervisor or Designee.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.  Knowledge of office procedures and practices.  Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions.  Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.  Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.  Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
