Who We Are

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Database Architect to support United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM).  This is a mission-critical role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance database systems that support personnel recovery and casualty evacuation operations in Africa under the Personnel Recovery Enterprise Services and Solutions (PRESS) task order. The successful candidate will architect databases that integrate operational flight data and medical treatment information to enable informed decision-making. This role involves leading database architecture strategy, ensuring data security, and optimizing performance for scalability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database technologies, data modeling, and system integration.  The Database Architect will work directly with the HII Director and Program Manager of PRESS to ensure on-time delivery of all tasks and deliverables while remaining compliant to Task Order (TO) scope and approved budget. This role will require travel <10%. 

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with US Government customer to develop and codify requirements.
  • Develop logical and physical data models for systems that capture, store, and retrieve operational flight data (e.g., aircraft availability, flight logs, aircraft metrics) and medical data (e.g., medical supplies, patient treatment and outcomes).
  • Architect scalable, secure, and robust database systems that ensure high availability under variable network conditions common in field operations across Africa.
  • Lead the integration of disparate data sources into a unified, cohesive framework.
  • Oversee extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes and data pipelines to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and regular performance assessments.
  • Evaluate emerging database technologies and provide recommendations for adoption.
  • Lead data migration, transformation, and ETL processes for PRESS initiatives.
  • Establish best practices for database development, testing, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure system reliability.
  • Develop strategies for data query, analytics, reporting, and visualization.
  • Implement robust data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and audit trails, to protect sensitive operational and medical data.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance system resilience and performance in mission-critical environments.
  • Create documentation, best practices, and training resources to support ongoing operational excellence and data governance.
