We are seeking candidates for the position of Program Eligibility Specialist (5166) in the CCT/ADA Program.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

To provide information to customers regarding transportation services related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Shared Ride Program (SRP) by phone, fax, mail, email, and in-person.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes ADA applications and refers applicants for functional assessments. Reviews all relevant materials and determines eligibility in accordance with FTA ADA paratransit eligibility regulations. This includes the generation of eligibility or denial letters and creation/distribution of ID cards.
  • Processes SRP applications, recording applicant information in database and creating/distributing ID cards.
  • Records incoming mail and prepares all ADA and SRP application requests and welcome packets.
  • Creates, updates and/or maintains all database files, including but not limited to, the patron caller file, service inquiry file, eligibility challenge and the patron no-shows file.
  • Provides information regarding ADA, SRP and accessible fixed route services via an Electronic Call Distribution system, mail, fax, and email.
  • Relays information concerning application process to customers and/or advocates.
  • Participates in off-site presentations, meetings and other special events requested by consumer groups, human service agencies, and advisory committees, as needed.
  • Assists with registration for Reduced Fare and Senior Fare programs.
  • Schedules assessments for ADA applicants with Occupational Therapist at SEPTA’s Accessible Transportation Center (ATC).
  • Analyzes and compiles data to make the best determinations for ADA Assessments.
  • Communicates with healthcare professionals to receive information pertaining to Applicants diagnosis, treatments, and medications.
  • Assists with ADA eligibility appeal process.
  • Complies with all eligibility requirements and guidelines set for by ADA and DOT regulations.
  • Assists with call and response trainings for new hires.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, and eight (8) years of relevant experience working in a fast-paced customer service call center, telemarketing, or related environment, interfacing with customers in-person and/or via the phone required.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education and experience (one year of post high school education equating to two years of experience) may be considered in lieu of the above listed requirements.
  • Must complete and maintain mandatory NTI Comprehensive ADA Paratransit certification within one year of obtaining position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, and reading skills required. Public speaking experience preferred (Writing Sample will be required as part of the interview process).
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Exemplary telephone experience and technique required.
  • Accurate, methodical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently required. Must possess patience and empathy; have good organization skills; excellent powers of concentration; and the ability to multi-task. Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with personal computers with Microsoft Office applications experience along with three (3) years of data entry experience. (Data entry test will be administered prior to interview).
