Brief team/department description:

Medical Affairs at Azurity Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company delivering innovative medicines for overlooked patients across 50+ countries, drives scientific and clinical initiatives with a portfolio of 30+ brands spanning 10 dosage forms and 9 therapeutic areas. The Cardiovascular (Hypertension) Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a US-based position within the Medical Affairs Department, reporting to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs. This role advances Azurity’s cardiovascular-related products and initiatives in the US market through scientific expertise and stakeholder engagement.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • KOL and HCP Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with cardiovascular Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical thought leaders, and healthcare providers (HCPs) through scientific exchanges to support Azurity’s product development and scientific platforms in the US.
  • Medical Education and Presentations: Deliver product- and disease-related medical education, including pharmacoeconomic analyses, to internal teams, cardiologists, HCPs, managed care organizations, payers, and medical societies in settings like hospitals, academic institutions, and medical congresses.
  • Scientific Support: Act as the primary contact for medical and scientific inquiries from cardiologists, HCPs, payers, formulary decision-makers, advocacy groups, and internal stakeholders regarding Azurity’s cardiovascular products and disease states, with a focus on hypertension.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Attend cardiovascular-focused medical meetings (e.g., AHA, ACC) to gather and share scientific and competitive intelligence with internal stakeholders.
  • Research Collaboration: Support company-sponsored trials, clinical trial site recruitment, and unsolicited Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) proposals, collaborating with KOLs and investigators on research opportunities and maintaining engagement through trial completion and data publication.
  • Medical and Commercial Support: Assist in medical communications, grant proposals, health economics research (HEOR experience preferred), speaker training, Advisory Boards, and sales training on disease state awareness, product information, and competitive landscape in cardiovascular medicine, particularly hypertension.
  • Expertise Maintenance: Stay current on disease states, clinical information, product data, and competitive landscapes within the cardiovascular therapeutic area, with emphasis on hypertension.
  • Travel: Up to 60% travel is required to attend medical conferences, engage with KOLs, and support field-based activities within the US.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: Doctoral-level qualification (PharmD, PhD, MD) preferred, with a strong background in cardiovascular medicine, hypertension management, or related fields.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience preferred, with at least 2 years as a Medical Science Liaison.
    • Experience in cardiovascular or hypertension-related therapeutic areas is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Thorough understanding of cardiovascular science, hypertension guidelines, and clinical practices.
