Meet the team:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Data Scientist to join our Decision Science team. Our team is responsible for driving data insights into business action for continuous improvement of ML data and annotation loop. This includes but is not limited to problem formulation (by translating business questions into research problems), data profiling & curation, designing and implementing data modeling algorithms using machine learning techniques and industry-standard tools and processes, metadata development, performance analytics of data/metrics to close the loop, risk modeling and forecasting to facilitate planning of data collections and annotations.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and actively participate in conceptualizing, designing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning and data science models, algorithms, and predictive analytics to address intricate challenges in autonomous vehicle technology
- Analyze, model, and interpret enterprise-scale data sets (tabular as well as non-tabular)
- Data profiling & curation of data that feed ML models, Verification & Validation processes
- Management of metadata, annotation data & its quality life cycle
- Develop insightful feedback loop to data collection and annotation activities
- Identify data gaps & strategize optimal plans with what-if scenarios
- Present complex findings and insights in a clear, compelling manner to technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions and driving the progress of autonomous vehicle technology
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for data-driven solutions, utilizing your data science expertise to optimize our self-driving truck systems and refine operational processes
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists and data analysts, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing that uplifts the entire team
- Remain at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and machine learning, proactively applying your knowledge to elevate existing methodologies
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science or ML roles, demonstrating hands-on experience in developing and deploying data processing pipelines, machine learning models within real-world applications
- Proficiency in pertinent programming languages such as Python or R, along with expertise in utilizing data analysis libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
- Deep experience in statistics and mathematics, encompassing skills in hypothesis testing, regression analysis, clustering, time series analysis & risk modeling
- Must have a track record of working with autonomous driving data including but not limited to Lidar, Camera and Radar
- Deep understanding of SQL querying in data lake and experience leveraging business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, AWS Quicksight, Ploty, Matplotlib) for data visualization
- Experience with Statistical modeling, Deep Learning, Experimentation, Machine learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch) and pipelines
- Experience with Agile project management
- Proficiency in working with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or other distributed computing frameworks
- Should be comfortable working in a team environment and be receptive to both giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to approach challenges with inventiveness and creativity
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical findings and concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
