Principal Electrical Engineer

As an Electrical Engineer on the Spot electrical team, you will develop and support circuit boards and electrical assemblies for Boston Dynamic’s quadruped robots. You’ll love working on a fun, collaborative, and highly capable team to develop one of the world’s coolest robots.

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.  

How you will make an impact:

• Develop (document, design, test, support) digital, power, and/or mixed signal circuit boards 

• Support and debug existing fielded product

• Author technical documentation such as specifications, schematics, test plans, and reports

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, compliance, and test teams

• Assist with process development

• Participate in design reviews

We are looking for:

• BS in electrical engineering, robotics, or related field

• At least 8 years of directly related work experience

• Experience being the lead engineer responsible for driving product through third party agencies for certification

• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals

• Experience using modern electrical CAD tools (e.g. Altium)

• A love of mentoring others

Nice to have:   

• At least 15 years of directly related work experience

• Programming skills in C, C++, Python

• Prior robotics experience

• Guru in designing for EMC and/or high-speed communication interfaces (e.g. PCIe4, USB3, MIPI)
