3rd Floor Med Surg: 

Welcome to the 3rd floor Med Surg Unit at St. Anthony Hospital, a Magnet® designated, level one trauma center. The third floor is our new 16 bed surgical unit specializing in post-operative care for general elective surgical cases. Our patients have a wide range of diagnoses requiring planned surgical intervention.

 

A good candidate for the 3rd floor would be someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and teamwork. Our surgical unit lends itself to developing great relationships with our coworkers and we work together to provide excellent patient care. We also pride ourselves in our growth pathways for our staff, and we are a great starting point for someone interested in a future in Critical Care, Emergency medicine and the OR.

 

As an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) you will be responsible for developing, achieving and maintaining the goals of a unit or department by focusing on the unit or department’s daily operations.Essential functions to the success of this role include:

• Consistently promote a positive & healthy work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff and customers.
• Collaboratively work with nurse leaders in maintaining productivity, supporting initiatives, and ensuring units/departments are appropriately staffed.
• Assist in identifying staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
• Daily productivity and expense management and support unit/department manager with budget preparation.
• Focus on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals.
• Encourage employee participation in decision through shared governance and support change management.
• Support professional development to improve employee retention.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified Assistant Nurse Manager candidates will need the following:

• 2 years clinical RN experience
• 6 months - 1 year clinical leadership experience, preferred
• A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN)
• Current RN License to practice in state of employment 
• Life Support Certifications per Department Standards; e.g. NRP, EFM, TNCC, etc. 
• Nursing Specialty Certification:
  • Required to sit for certification within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Must achieve certification within 2 years of hire/transfer into this role

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
