Job Description
The Role: We are seeking a talented, experienced individual based in Tysons Corner, Virginia, to serve as a key contributor in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including working in an AI-infused contract lifecycle management system. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-caliber, collegial department with other dedicated legal professionals on a wide variety of matters for an innovative, publicly traded technology company. Preference is for a candidate who can work a hybrid in-office schedule (currently 2 days per week in an office in Tysons Corner, Virginia).
Your Focus:
- Negotiate the terms of commercial contracts for software, cloud and other services (possibly including contracts related to MicroStrategy’s bitcoin strategy) including within our contract lifecycle management system;
- Promote, balance and manage company and customer/vendor interests using a high degree of ingenuity to quickly resolve issues while managing business risk;
- Collaborate on and drive project and process improvement initiatives including contract lifecycle management system implementation and enhancement initiatives aimed at increasing the speed and efficiency of the deal process; Regularly coordinate with and validate input from internal organizations and other members of the Legal team to facilitate contract negotiation and execution;
- Apply judgment using multiple sources of information to resolve contractual issues;
- Anticipate and solve problems.
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent) (Legal degree is not required as this is not an attorney role);
- 3+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house; Experience with, and enthusiasm for, transactional work including software licensing;
- Experience drafting and negotiating moderate to complex commercial contracts;
- Ability to manage fast-paced workload in a dynamic environment and simultaneously add value to multiple projects;
- Excellent internal and external negotiation skills;
- Proactive, self-starter who takes ownership of matters and enjoys working across departments;
- Superb organizational and verbal and written communication skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Word);
- Experience working with contract lifecycle management systems is a plus.
