The Senior Accountant for the Insurance division is a key owner of accurate, timely financials across multiple entities. This role steers the monthly close, safeguards strong internal controls, and delivers clear, decision-ready analyses to leadership. As a trusted partner to Operations, FP&A, and Tax, the Senior Accountant translates complex activity into clean financial outcomes, coordinates audit and compliance needs, and continually improves processes through automation and rigor. Beyond steady-state accounting, this role leads high-impact initiatives that elevate reporting quality, efficiency, and control across the insurance portfolio.
What you will do as a Sr. Accountant, Insurance
Prepares journal entries for assigned areas, utilizes analysis & quick balancing checks to ensure accuracy and completeness in bookings needed in fast-paced monthly close
Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned areas timely, independently resolves issues
Helps design and maintain accounting policies and procedures, with consideration of internal controls. Finds opportunities to automate and implement where possible
Ensures compliance with internal controls and contributes to enhancements
Understands and reconciles data between multiple systems (e.g., BriteCore, PTS, NetSuite, Stripe) for multiple companies
Handles accounting and settlement for certain complex internal Porch agreements
Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
Review and approve daily journal entries and AP batches
Provides support in daily cash/banking exceptions/credit card processing to staff accountants
Serves as liaison to corporate tax group on behalf of Insurance Division
Assists in 10Q/10K schedules for Parent company Financial Reporting
Key contributor toward flux analyses for monthly close and audit support
Serves as a key contact for annual audit and MGA compliance support – compiles schedules and support as needed
Take initiative on high-impact projects assigned by senior management
Other duties as assigned
What you will bring as an Sr. Accountant, Insurance
5+ years of increasing responsibility in accounting in a corporate environment
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, MS or CPA preferred
Advanced Excel skills
Netsuite General
