About the role

Ivy Tech Bloomington is searching for multiple part time instructors to teach culinary courses in the upcoming spring semester starting in January. Specifically we are looking for instructors to teach the following:
HOSP 106: Breakfast and Pantry on Mon & Tues for 8 weeks (Jan-March)
HOSP 200: Meat and Seafood Fabrication on Wed & Thurs for 8 weeks (Jan - Mar)
HOSP 207: Customer Service on Wed & Thurs for 8 weeks (Mar - May)
These courses meet on campus from 9am - 2pm

There are other courses that could be available in culinary and baking & pastry so all applicants are welcome even if the above schedule is not a fit.

Part time instructors make $46.50 per contact hour. Interviews will be on going until positions are filled. Interviews will happen on a rolling basis until positions are filled. Applicants should apply soon to be considered for the upcoming spring 2024 semester.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:  Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.  Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.    

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  •  ​Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.  
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods. 
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.  Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements. 
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).  
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.  
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

    A qualified faculty member teaching Breakfast and Pantry meets both of the following criteria:

    • Holds professional certification in the field, and 
    • Has two or more years of directly related work experience 

    A qualified faculty member teaching Meat and Seafood Fabrication meets both of the following criteria:

    • Holds professional certification in the field, and 
    • Has five or more years of directly related work experience

    A qualified faculty member teaching Customer Service meets both of the following criteria:

    • Possesses an earned associates or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and 
    • Holds professional certification in the field, and 
    • NRAEF Instructor/Proctor status (can be earned after being hired), and 
    • Has five or more years of directly related work experience
