About the role

Job purpose PHINIA is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Support Engineer (Data Analyst / Data Engineer )to join our dynamic analytics team within PHINIA's growing Business Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical support for the extract, load and transformation processes feeding our Azure data lake and data warehouse, ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of data workflows. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in data integration, Azure services, and troubleshooting skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level support for Azure Data Factory, addressing and resolving technical issues promptly.
  • Monitor and optimize data pipelines, ensuring efficient data processing and integration.
  • Investigate and resolve data integration issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and debug data-related problems.
  • Provide support for ELT routines built and scheduled in WhereScape, addressing and resolving technical issues promptly.
  • Build and adapt robust data pipelines, ensuring the timely and accurate extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data into our data warehouse.
  • Implement proactive measures to monitor and enhance the performance of data pipelines within Azure Data Factory.
  • Conduct regular performance analysis and implement optimizations to improve overall efficiency.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in business analytics and data extraction, loading and transformations techniques, incorporating innovative approaches into the team's practices.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supporting and troubleshooting Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong understanding of data integration concepts, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Solid knowledge of Azure services related to data and analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.
  • Experience with other Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Synapse Analytics would be beneficial.
  • Experience in WhereScape would also be beneficial although not essential.
  • Experience in Power BI would also be beneficial

Key Job Skills and or competencies

  • Proficiency in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
  • Experience with data integration techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of Azure Data Factory architecture and components, including creating and managing pipelines.
  • Understanding of datasets, linked services, data flows, pipelines, and triggers in Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying databases, troubleshooting data issues, and optimizing queries.
  • Proficiency in languages like SQL for data transformation.
  • Knowledge of change management processes to handle updates and modifications to ETL workflows.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing code and configurations.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other members or the data team and business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver effective data solutions.
