Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Mission Assurance Engineer to support the RQ-4 Enterprise under the Autonomous Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance & Targeting (AISR&T) Business Unit. This role is located in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), California.  The selected candidate will be assigned to the RQ-4 Mission Assurance Program Manager (MAPM) and have the responsibility as a Mission Assurance IPT lead. This position has the opportunity to accommodate a hybrid schedule but will require in office days.

Role and Responsibilities:

Defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.

Duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures contractual program requirements are flowed down internally and to suppliers, ensure compliance with customer contract, industry, and organizational requirements. Performs verification and validation requirements have been met.
  • Maintains close engagement with the various program organizations to obtain mission success
  • Reviews practices, procedures, and processes, seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supports tracking and reporting metrics, mission specific risk issues & develop, and present internal & external Mission Assurance briefings.
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) for assigned contracts using Earned Value Management System principles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field with 8 years experience, 6 years with a Masters or 4 years with a PhD

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

  • Must have the ability to travel ~10% of time


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently holds active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance

  • Experience in Autonomous (Unmanned) or Aerospace programs

  • Experience with AS9100D standards

  • Experience in a program-facing role

  • Experience with EVMS, Earned Value Management System as a Cost Account Manager

  • Experience with TeamCenter and Crucible

  • Extensive knowledge base in Root Cause and Corrective Action

Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
