ROLE SUMMARY

Since PAXLOVID’s emergency use authorization on 12/22/21, PAXLOVID has helped treat over 22M patients at high-risk from progression to severe COVID-19, which can lead to hospitalization and/or death. Now that PAXLOVID is FDA approved and commercialized in the U.S., this novel protease inhibitor is positioned to remain the gold standard in COVID-19 treatment. Significant opportunity to increase treatment rates for eligible patients and bolster PAXLOVID’s leadership position in the marketplace continues, as new clinical data, RWE, and label indications are anticipated throughout 2025 and beyond.

The US PAXLOVID Payer & Access Marketing Director will be responsible for the development and execution of payer marketing strategies, resources and tactics to optimize patient access to PAXLOVID.  The position will have a cross functional leadership role working closely with USMA teams on the development of and implementation of strategies and tactics to optimize payer coverage across the payer channel mix, including formulary decision makers from commercial health plans and PBMs, Medicare Part D plans, state Medicaid programs, and VA/DoD.  In addition, this role will work closely with the US Paxlovid marketing team to help optimize pull through of the access and minimize access hurdles for HCPs and patients.

The US PAXLOVID Payer & Access Marketing Director will working closely with USMA teams and the PAXLOVID HCP and consumer teams to ensure the integration and implementation of an optimal market access strategy that supports all aspects of the commercial plan and maximizes brand performance.

The position requires strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, exceptional cross-functional leadership and collaboration, and detail-oriented execution to navigate a complex and rapidly evolving access landscape. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Payer Marketing on Payer Value Proposition (PVP) evolution incorporating new data, lifecycle management and competitive entrants
  • Strategically partner with GAV and USMA on the development of and execution of evidence priorities that drive the payer value story
  • Partner with USMA on contract strategy
  • Drive strategic collaboration with the USMA team to shape and execute payer-related strategies and tactical plans that ensure optimal access for Paxlovid.
  • Secure and allocate resources effectively to enable seamless implementation of Market Access strategies and tactics.
  • Lead KPI tracking and performance measurement, partnering with USMA and cross-functional colleagues to assess access efforts and refine strategy, messaging, and tactics based on insights.
  • Own rejection and reversal analytics, and proactively partner with USMA to identify and resolve payer utilization management (UM) barriers impacting rejection rates.
  • Align stakeholders on key Market Access and performance metrics.
  • Develop payer training materials for all relevant field teams including but not limited to the payer account team, sales force and other stakeholders
  • Lead the strategy and tactical launch plan development for additional indications or dosages, collaborating with brand and cross functional stakeholders to ensure readiness for US launch
  • Evolve the access strategy to prepare for potential competitive entrants
  • Develop and execute the Paxlovid LTC strategy. Partner with the HULC team on LTC focused resources and tactics.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years U.S. pharmaceutical experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous in-line marketing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, extract key insights, and translate these into meaningful strategies, programs and in market results
  • Proven track record of operating in a fast-paced, high energy environment
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross functional matrix teams: Influences without formal authority, understands role/ position in the wider context; builds and maintains strong relationships of trust; able to influence without authority to set joint goals and share lessons learned; experience working in large organization across multiple functional partner lines
  • Ability to gain alignment: Effective listening and communication skills – gathers input from key stakeholders; communicates scientific and commercial strategies into clear updates for senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior leadership
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize/multi-task
