POSITION TITLE:       Senior Financial Analyst, R&D Strategic Finance

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Senior Financial Analyst in R&D Strategic Finance, you will help drive and support the financial strategies and related planning, reporting, and analysis of Scripps Research Institute’s sponsored research. The successful candidate will be proactive, solutions-oriented, and highly analytical, with the ability to build strong partnerships with both scientific and administration teams to influence strategic decision making and tactical execution that ensures the financial strength of labs at Scripps Research.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

•  Drive financial planning for research funding portfolios, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial modeling, to ensure accurate projections and anticipate organizational needs
•  Serve as a strategic financial partner to PIs and lab administrators, delivering actionable insights, in-depth analysis, and financial reporting to inform decision-making and ensure efficient resource management
•  Partner with Pre-Award to ensure seamless grant lifecycle management, proactively identifying funding risks and opportunities to ensure long-term sustainability
•  Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strong financial stewardship of internal and external funds
•  Proactively identify and address potential financial and compliance risks before they escalate
•  Develop and implement best-in-class forecasting tools and KPIs, driving data-driven decision making and resource optimization
•  Prepare financial reports, analyses, and presentations for leadership, sponsors, and key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and data-driven decision-making

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

•  2+ years related work experience in the biotechnology or technology sectors and/or life sciences academic/research institutions required, with strong analytic skills and ability to work in fast-paced, fluid environments
