Electrical Engineering Internship

The Electrical Engineering Intern will work in a laboratory environment with Eden’s Senior High Voltage Engineer and Edens interdisciplinary R&D team to design, build and optimize high voltage pulse power devices for electrical reservoir stimulation. Investigating the impact of pulsed frequency, energy, and voltage will support the efforts relevant to the geothermal-, mining-, geological H2-, and CO2 sequestration industries. This role requires basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles, AC and DC circuit analysis, electrical measurement techniques, breadboarding, and soldering.

Duties & Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, the candidate will:

• Work closely with the Senior High Voltage Engineer to develop lab scale and field scale pulse power devices.

• Support the engineering team in the optimization of electrical stimulation parameters.

• Perform electrical stimulation experiments on both laboratory prepared and natural rock samples.

• Design and build low voltage control circuits for pulsed power devices.

• Design and build electrical noise suppression systems (Faraday’s cages, voltage suppression systems).

• Assist the geomechanics team in measurements of electrical properties of various mineral samples.

• Prepare and present project updates, technical presentations, and reports for team members.

Requirements

• Pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

• Prior experience performing electrical measurements with oscilloscopes.

• Prior breadboarding and soldering experience.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in fabrication is a bonus.

• Experience working with and building high voltage circuitry is a bonus (Marx Generators, Inductive adder circuits, pulse transformers).

• Experience with electrical properties of materials is a bonus.
