What we do:

The Avionics and Electrical engineering team is responsible for design, integration, qualification, and certification of the Avionics, the Low-Voltage Power Distribution System and the Electrical Wiring and Interconnect system (EWIS). The Lead Project Engineer, Avionics and Electrical will work closely with Airframe & AIT, VMS, Flight Technology, Powertrain, Test & Evaluation, and the PMO teams to ensure progress and technical quality throughout the Avionics and Electrical systems development.

This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What you can do:

  • Assist Avionics and Electrical Department Head and Managers with the completion of engineering projects and schedule deliverables. Identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and implement contingency plans related to Avionics and Electrical systems
  • Lead teams through problem solving techniques (ex. Fish bone diagrams, Fault tree analysis, 8D, etc.) and help teams identify and communicate risks, and create mitigation plans
  • Lead team(s) in the design and documentation of development processes of the Electrical interfaces including electrical connector types, connector pin definitions, wire types and sizes and other relevant data for all aircraft systems as input to the EWIS wire harness CAD design and manufacturing process
  • Provide project support for different stages of Avionics and Electrical development internally as well as externally with subsystem/component suppliers to ensure on-time Avionics and Electrical delivery
  • Ensure efficient cross-collaboration between the Avionics and Electrical team and other teams on the programs
  • Coordinate deliveries of software requirements, I/O tables, code and models to Avionics suppliers and of resulting software build, integration and change development activities
  • Coordinate verification and validation activities for systems, hardware and software and collaborate with the Test & Evaluation Team to plan, support, and conduct tests as required
  • Provide project support for the Avionics and Electrical and other Systems Teams in the integration of the equipment into the air vehicle in the following areas: avionics cockpit and ground control station integration, avionics and electrical systems to airframe integration, aircraft systems to electrical wiring system integration, aircraft assembly sequence and work with the assembly and integration team to provide prototype parts to support system level testing and engineering builds
  • Provide project support for the following: simulation and analysis efforts to drive requirements development and decomposition that includes tracking and closure of trade studies; system architecture and safety teams to develop requirements and specifications for the avionics and electrical systems; and engineers to define and mature mechanical, electrical, and communication interfaces with aircraft systems to include airframe, wiring, powertrain and vehicle management systems
  • Support leadership in balanced workloads and support the Avionics and Electrical engineering team through technical and programmatic milestones
  • Align all team outcomes with Program Management team deliverables
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience working on electrical/electronics systems, hardware and/or software preferably in aerospace applications such as fixed wing and helicopter aircraft (an equivalent combination of education experience may be considered)
  • Familiarity with flight controls, electrical power or powertrain system and subsystems
  • Strong understanding of Aircraft System Development
  • Basic knowledge of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) issues
  • Knowledgeable in aircraft and system/subsystem civil certification processes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within tim
