About the role

The Opportunity:

The Shipping/Receiving Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day logistical activities such as shipping and receiving of materials through coordination with 3rd party vendors including order entry, preparing packaging and shipping documentation, and delivery of incoming packages.  The Team Lead supports and leads a small team of on-site personnel acting as a single point of contact for the customer.  Much of the time is spent performing the work of those supervised.

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday through Friday

What does the position do?

  • Coordinates and leads team efforts and performs work provided in SOW related to customer requirements.

  • Single point of contact for the customer.

  • Coaches and motivates team members to successfully perform job requirements and to meet/exceed goals and objectives.  Encourages through mentoring, individual professional growth, and team growth.

  • Provides training and development as well as back-up to associates to perform required tasks.

  • Responsible for logistical activities such as shipping and receiving of materials through coordination with 3rd party couriers.

  • Inspect incoming materials for visible damage, note and receive, or note and reject as needed.

  • Package delivery utilizing package ID and tracking software and providing proof of delivery.

  • Responsible for accurately preparing, packaging and providing documentation with outgoing shipments.

  • Work with site contacts to identify and make recommendations for operational improvements

  • Handles chemicals, including hazardous materials.

  • Updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and meeting customer’s SLAs on package deliveries.

  • Other duties as assigned​

What do you need to have? (required)

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1-4 years equivalent experience in material handling, inventory replenishment, account management, and/or customer service.

  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Basic digital literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong communication skills and a high level of customer service skills while displaying a professional can-do demeanor

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and solve problems

  • Must be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the confidence to act independently

  • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality

  • Conform to all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, and security clearances.

  • Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies and procedures.

What would be nice to have? (Desired but not required)

  • Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG and OSHA Right to Know experience

  • Previous experience working in or around scientific lab

  • Knowledge of scientific products and services

What are the working conditions like?
Typically works in an office, stockroom, or warehousing environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.  Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement.
