About the role

JOB SUMMARY 

The purpose of this position is designed to be an integral part of a team ensuring timely package and shipment of parts manufactured within the Rockford facility.

REPORTING TO 

Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Tumble, inspect, weigh and package parts for shipment.
  • Support the shipment of parts and the received parts and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production of product for sale to our customer base.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to quality and supply chain.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow safety regulations. Other duties as assigned.
  • Print labels, operate a tow motor, assist in inventory management.

SKILLS and ABILITIES 

  • Ability to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: be familiar with and able to interpret job travelers, enter into the computer the correct information.
  • Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 

  • Required to have at least a high school diploma and one year of manufacturing related experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math and written instructions.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Experience working in the fastener or metal industries (not required but a plus)
  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy in a fast passed and interrupting environment
  • Detail oriented, meticulous, innovative and organized
  • Active communicator and ability to work with cross-departmental teams and the plant manager
  • Ability to work independently and is a fast learner

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Moderate lifting - no greater than 60 lbs.; moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping. No fine manipulation or fine manual dexterity required. Ability to stand for a full shift in addition to walking, climbing stairs and bending as required. Tow motor (i.e. powered industrial truck) operation.
