Position Summary:

The Check Services Product Manager works for the senior product manager to develop, support, and maintain the suite of wholesale check payables and receivables products. These products are Corporate Checking, Controlled Disbursements, Lockbox, Remote Deposit, Image Cash Letter, and Bank by Mail. Core responsibilities comprise multiple aspects of the services, including planning and analysis of profitability and pricing; implementing product strategy, partnering with teams from Operations, Transaction Banking Sales and Service, Japanese and Global Corporate Relationship Management, and Technology; tasks related to managing a third-party to deliver services; participating in compliance and risk initiatives; providing supporting documentation and training for internal and external stakeholders; and perform online and file channel management.  

Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Product strategy and delivery: Participate in efforts to identify product needs of target markets. Serve as a key participant in product life cycle activities such as performing new product/feature approval tasks, drafting marketing and sales support materials, developing operating procedures,  and representing the business to operational, project and technology teams. Develop strong working relationships with Transaction Banking, Operations, and Technology partners. Leverage existing product and organizational strengths to achieve stated business objectives including effective risk management. Support RFP responses. Maintain product documentation and forms. Respond to questions and requests from Service and Sales. Serve as an escalation point for complex customer service issues.
  • Product Profitability and Pricing: Provide  analytical support for strategic and tactical decision making and business reviews. For executive presentations, identify volume and revenue trends and their sources, with forecasting. Partner with Relationship Managers, Client Service officers, and TB Treasury Relationship Managers as appropriate to drive revenue growth and identify impacts to product financials. Provide requisite support for improvements to price modeling initiatives, annual pricing cycles, and billing system changes related to pricing.
  • Product Risk Management: Actively participate in  periodic product risk assessments. Represent Check Services in payments risk policy and procedure reviews. Proactively identify and address risk issues.
  • Check Services Channels: Serve as main point of contact for Check Services in the online banking and file transmission channels. Prepare specifications and user guides. Assist with issue triage as required. Track required channel enhancements and manage communication of changes to clients and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in a product management, operations, or customer service role in the financial industry, preferably related to check services
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills          
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with financial file formats such as EDI, ISO 20022 XML, SWIFT, or BAI
  • Familiarity with online banking management, or UAT testing of online banking platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint; working knowledge of Confluence or other collaboration platforms

The typical base pay range for this role is between $120K - $145K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
