Job Description
The Scientific Data Consumption product line is seeking an experienced cloud engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale IT solutions in the public cloud (Amazon Web Services / AWS). The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based technology, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge. Hands on experience with AWS managed services such as Lambda, Redshift, RDS, Glue and S3 is a must.
Objectives of this Role
Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy AWS applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics
Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for AWS based solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required
Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
Required Expertise and Skills
Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a cloud engineer or relevant role (DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering)
Knowledge of Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) technologies like Terraform, Ansible, etc.
Proficiency in DevSecOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, JIRA, Wiz.io, Docker
Proficiency in AWS managed services like AWS Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Cognito, CloudFormation, IAM, Redshift
CI/CD hands-on experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Cloudbees CD)
Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell
Aptitude in scripting language such as Python, Bash, Go
Hands on experience with AWS CLI
RDBMS and NoSQL database administration
Be able to actively leverage SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) best practices
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
