Job Summary:The Geographic Information System (GIS) and Data Coordinator’s primary role for the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) is to coordinate GIS and Data projects and supervise GIS Analysts to support Forestry’s planning, operations, and reporting requirements (Forestry Districts, Forest Health, Invasive Species, Urban and Community Forestry, etc.). In addition, this position is responsible to: collaborate with partners on metadata, data and analysis standardization and integration; quality control of data, analysis, and products (apps, maps, & reports); manage and track projects and tasks; develop and document GIS and Remote Sensing data collection, analysis, and reporting protocols and procedures; train junior GIS staff; coordinate GIS and Data training for DFFM staff and customers.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:• Supervises GIS Analysts by defining and establishing schedules, setting priorities, providing support/direction, and dealing with administrative issues as needed.
• Manage, coordinate, and track GIS and Data projects. Provide quality control on metadata, data, analysis, and products (apps, maps, reports, etc.).
• Develop and document GIS and Remote Sensing metadata, data collection, analysis, and reporting protocols, procedures, and standards. Collaborate with partners on data, services, and analysis integration. Evaluate and test emerging technologies.
• Coordinate training for staff and customers on GIS and Data systems, apps, and products. Support staff with GIS and Remote Sensing analysis.
• Drive on State business.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
• Supervision principles and leadership techniques, including coaching, mentoring and staff development.
• Forestry or natural resource management.
• GIS systems, spatial data, database management systems, and development platforms
• Mathematics, statistics, and spatial analysis methods (queries, reasoning, measurements, transformations, descriptive summaries, optimization, hypothesis testing)
• GIS vector and raster data models, Feature Services, Image Services, Vector Tile Services, and File GeoDB
• GIS and Remote Sensing data entry techniques and methodologies
• Current GIS desktop and mobile software and procedures
• GIS scripting languages such as Python, Arcade, and R
• Quality Control & Quality Assurance of GIS and Remote Sensing processes, data, and products
• Project management methods and tools
