About the role

The Senior Manager of Test Engineering will lead the Test Engineering Team. In this role, the Senior Engineering Manager will lead strategy in areas of Test Process Development, performance, Test design, and safety. We work cross-functionally and collaboratively to serve our collective mission to build a better, more sustainable world from our new state of the art San Leandro facility.

Cuberg is commercializing next-generation battery technology to power the future of electric mobility. The company was acquired in 2021 by Northvolt, a global supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. As Northvolt's Advanced Technology Center operating in Silicon Valley, Cuberg is developing and commercializing lithium metal batteries, building an innovation ecosystem around lithium-ion technology, and leveraging Northvolt's state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to rapidly scale up production of advanced batteries.

The San Fransisco / Bay Area base TCC salary range for this full-time position is $180,500 - $245,000 + equity + benefits.


Responsibilities

  • Lead technical projects on Cell Testing and drive product development initiatives
  • Define standard test procedures for product validation
  • Lead and develop a Test Engineering team
  • Contribute significantly in the lab – perform electrochemical and physical characterization experiments, improve existing characterization tools, and develop new tools as needed
  • Generate quality experimental results to inform data-driven decisions
  • Perform failure analysis of prototype and production cells and recommend corrective actions
  • Analyze battery test data, communicate results to the team, and suggest new pathways for development

Requirements

  • B.S. (required) or M.S. (preferred) in an engineering field or equivalent in relevant experience
  • 10+ years leading teams in Test / Quality Engineering Teams
  • 5yrs experience with battery fundamentals and battery test equipment and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and standard operating procedures
