You will be responsible for planning and directing the work of both subordinate staff and inmate crews. This includes overseeing general facility maintenance and construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.</span></p> <span>Job Duties:</span> <p><span>- Supervises, plans, and directs the activities of subordinates and/or inmate crews<br/>- Establishes and carries out preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment, mechanical equipment, and facility maintenance activities<br/>- Calculates cost estimates for maintenance/construction projects while working within budget constraints<br/>- Maintains records on all equipment/tools, repairs, and preventative maintenance<br/>- Performs maintenance and construction duties on all facility buildings and/or equipment <br/>- Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor, using basic office equipment/computer<br/>- Drives on State business <br/>- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment<br/></span></p> <span>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities (KSAs):</span> <p><span>Knowledge of: <br/>- Budgetary issues, including estimating costs and ordering materials<br/>Basic computer skills and relevant software to create forms, charts, and conduct research<br/>- National and local building codes<br/>- Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codes<br/>- All trades, i.e., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building, and preventative maintenance<br/>- Supervisory principles and techniques, including employee relations and work scheduling<br/><br/>Skill in: <br/>- Written and verbal communication<br/>- Organization and scheduling of maintenance repairs<br/>- Establishing a Preventative Maintenance Program for the facility<br/>- Supervisory skills to include interpersonal skills, employee relations, and time management<br/>- Communicate effectively with all organizational levels <br/><br/>Ability to: <br/>- Lift/Carry 50lbs<br/>- Push/Pull 50lbs<br/>- Walk/Run 0.25 miles<br/>- Demonstrate use of common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials<br/>- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics<br/>- Demonstrate methods and practices of preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction <br/>- Work in a prison environment<br/></span></p> <span>Selective Preference(s):</span> <p><span><span>- One (1) year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two (2) years equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician III, or any combination of training and experience</span></span></p> <span>Pre-Employment Requirements:</span> <p><span><span>Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.<br/><br/>If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply.
