Basic Function
The Business Analyst – Manufacturing a key position in the discovery and delivery of business solutions from information technology. The Business Analyst – Manufacturing, through continuous consultation with the functional areas, has a deep understanding of business operations and is capable of articulating solutions in business terms and not technical jargon. They are capable of envisioning potential value for new IT solutions. While a Business Analyst – Manufacturing has a deep understanding of specific business areas, that expertise is set into a broader context of understanding of the business processes and technical capabilities that may cross functional boundaries.
The Business Analyst – Manufacturing an individual contributor who is responsible for helping with gathering of business requirements to ensure business objectives are met by the new Digital Technology solutions and is team member during the design, development and execution of projects. The Business Analyst - Manufacturing must ensure the full systems lifecycle process is adhered to, overseeing solutions through the entire implementation process. They must be proficient in Project Management disciplines from requirements gathering through implementation of the functional solution. The Business Analyst - Manufacturing advocates for their clients and acts as the single point of contact for incident management, new services and resource allocation.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Manufacturing team to understand their business processes, suggest improvement opportunities, and identify technology solutions to address business needs.
- Elicit, validate, and manager business and stakeholder requirements.
- Analyze needs and design solutions to improve efficiency, profitability and achieve desired business value.
- Create detailed business requirements documents for DT organization.
- Work with stakeholders to understand the root cause of problems and identify opportunities to improve stakeholder requirements.
- Document technical resources needed for project execution, as a part of requirement documentation for resource coordinator.
- Collaborate with Functional Analysts, Developers, Architects, Data Engineers, etc.
- Primary contact for stakeholders to exchange ideas, dive into assessment of stakeholder issues, and advise on path forward solutions.
- Considering the upstream processes (forecasting and opportunity analysis processes) and downstream processes (delivery processing, shipping processing, inventory management, and billing processing), and factoring them into the proposed design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including functional developers, data scientists, cybersecurity professionals, network engineers, and program management staff to define requirements and ensure seamless integration of IT services.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure that their needs are met through the delivery of high-quality IT services.
- Identify & develop multi-year roadmaps and investment goals which are aligned to enterprise-wide, long-term business strategies and objectives and which address technology lifecycle including obsolesce, risk and emerging technologies. Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure the strategic business roadmaps are underpinned by appropriate digital technology.
- Identify areas for process improvement within IT service delivery and develop and implement solutions to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Update/pivot from a given plan in order to refocus resources elsewhere as needed. Demonstrate agility and adaptability in response to changing business needs and priorities.
- Oversees and follows up enhancements and small projects implementation activities and works with functional/technical developers to ensure business requirements are clear and development activities are on schedule
- Works closely with business colleagues, to quickly understand new requirements or problems, and then suggest a possible solution
- Helps develop business cases, considering financial, resource, and technological constraints; develops cost estimates with consideration to business impacts and risks.
- Consults with the business colleagues on appropriate change management activities to achieve organizational readiness for the implementation of changes.
- Demonstrates leadership by coordinating the requirements, specifications, and user acceptance testing efforts.
