About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Enterprise Cloud Architect in our Information Technology (IT) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will drive innovation, mitigate risks associated with cloud adoption, and ensure seamless interoperability between cloud and on-premises systems; ensure cloud initiatives align with the Virginia State Police’s long-term Information Technology Strategic Vision while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement; design, implement, and govern the organization’s cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security policies, and regulatory compliance; provide strategic leadership in transitioning the enterprise Information Technology environment to a modern, scalable, and secure cloud-based architecture, optimizing performance, cost efficiency, and resilience; collaborate with executive leadership, IT teams, and business stakeholders to define cloud adoption roadmaps, establish best practices, and integrate cloud services into the broader enterprise technology ecosystem; and support the development of enterprise-wide cloud governance, cost optimization strategies, and the adoption of cloud-native solutions to improve agility, scalability, and business continuity.

Minimum Qualifications
•Deep expertise in cloud architectures, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and Google Cloud, with a strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
•Proficiency in enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, and hybrid cloud environments is essential, along with experience in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, and licensing models.
•Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), service-oriented architecture (SOA), application programming interface (APIs), open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analysis.
•Possess technical leadership in cloud migrations, modernization projects, and cloud-native services, including containerization, serverless computing, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
•Advanced scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Python, and DevSecOps methodologies are critical for driving operational efficiencies.
•Ability to assess, design, and implement scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions while translating business needs into effective cloud strategies.
•Proven collaboration and communication skills to successfully engage with cross-functional teams, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•Ability to evaluate emerging technologies, troubleshoot cloud-related performance and security issues, and drive innovation ensures the organization's cloud strategy remains agile, cost-effective, and future-ready.
•Experience designing, implementing and/or consulting in applications and/or infrastructures.
•Experience driving change with leaders, stakeholders, and technical teams.
•Experience evaluating cloud platform technology and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, operational efficiency and architectural best practices and standards.
•Limited travel may be required to outlying VSP divisions and area offices.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
