Senior Software Developer, are you interested to join our team working with advanced meteorology software IRIS Focus?

With IRIS Focus, Vaisala is leading the evolution of meteorology software while combining data from Weather Radars, Wind Lidars and Lightning at a glance. The software provides meteorologists and forecasters working at meteorological offices, at airports, and at industrial or aerospace sites with a comprehensive view to help better understand weather hazards such as storms, windshear, turbulence, precipitation and more, for:

Earlier extreme weather and storm predictions and analyses
Quicker decision-making for events that may impact environment
More accurate precipitation classification

Due to climate change with more frequent and intense extreme weathers, IRIS Focus application software is becoming more crucial to protect human lives, goods and activities. In this context, we are extending our skilled and experienced team to take our software product to the next level and provide users even better data and possibilities to analyze weather.

ORGANIZATION

You will join our Software Products team which is part of Weather and Environment Products and Technologies organization, a home for over two hundred brilliant minds. We are a diverse bunch, but we share the same excitement on how we can make the world a better place with tech. You will work in the team developing weather software. The team is co-located in Finland and in United States. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities to work together with other talented colleagues across the organization. You would be joining to Vaisala R&D organization in Finland.

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?

We are looking for a skilled senior software developer. In addition to what you already know, we value your willingness to learn more.

Your daily tasks would vary between developing as a member of the team, participating in software design, implementing automated test cases, and participation in exploratory testing sessions. As a senior member of the team you would be participating also in the design of our future features.
