In this role, the HR Business Partner will have a multitude of responsibilities. They will help provide HR support for the San Diego company's Research Laboratories Discovery Site and as part of this role, they will help support site-specific HR initiatives, programs and operations. In addition, this person will help with all HR Business Partner support for designated functions at the site. The HRBP will coach leaders and teams and provides guidance and expertise in the development of the organizational talent and diversity strategy, talent management, organizational design, restructuring, change management, leader effectiveness, performance management, compensation and rewards, and employee relations concerns.
To succeed, you will need a flexible skill set, including the ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations. Success in this role will also require influential partnership with associates, managers, and senior management within the organization to execute the HR strategies that foster organizational and people effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides HR consulting and coaching to leaders. Understand dynamics and key business priorities of client groups to help leaders effectively manage and lead their organizations
Coach leaders and members of leadership team(s) to successfully manage all cyclical people management processes (talent management, succession planning, performance management, compensation planning, etc.
Partner with management on workforce planning strategies, hiring plans, recruitment & selection strategies, and onboarding process
Partner with Recruiting to provide oversight on implementation of workforce hiring plan
Partner with Learning & Development on learning strategies and solutions to support and enable talent strategy
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, employee relations)
Partner with CoE’s to administer local compensation & benefits programs
Partner with Site Leadership to execute HR related programs that enable a strong collaborative culture of innovation, commitment, and scientific exploration
Ensure compliance with all state & federal employment programs and practices
Skills/Competencies:
Demonstrated HR functional competence in one or more HR disciplines; Previous HR Business Partner experience preferred
Being an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
The ability to be comfortable with high volume workload and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves"
Demonstrated ability to effectively influence, consult with and coach senior leaders and managers
Ability to think strategically and still maintain an attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to lead open and effective dialog and craft and deliver compelling messages internally
Proven ability to demonstrate and foster collaboration among peers and extended HR organization
Experience navigating and leverage HR systems to gather data to support client consultation
Assertive, self-starter and independent quick thinker
Preferred Competencies:
Demonstrated experience in organization development such as organization design, change management, workforce planning
Knowledge of California employment legal practices and policies
Knowledge of and experience interpreting employment and labor laws
Required:
Education
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related discipline, or currently in pursuit of degree completion, or equivalent relevant work experience
Experience
Minimum 6 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner, in an HR COE or in HR Operations role (with Masters’ degree, minimum experience is 3 years); or relevant applicable experience
