What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney Holt (PWAA) part of the Fan Module center produces GTF Fan Blades. The site is comprised of approximately 300 hourly employees and 40 salary employees. PW Holt is part of the PW Auto Air group. PWAA comprises MRO operations.   

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations and delivery with direct responsibility of Quality, EH&S, CORE, Engineering, Materials, Finance, and Facilities in support of operations. The General Manager will work collaboratively with other Pratt & Whitney businesses in Michigan and East Hartford for alignment on initiatives and shared resources such as HR. The General Manager will be responsible for maximizing productivity and has responsibility for the entire operational unit across functional areas and will be accountable for budget, staffing, and operational results. Additionally, the general manager will lead successful relations with the union representatives member of IAM. This is the key leadership role for the facility. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing strategic plans for PW Holt in alignment with Fan Module Center and the MC&O LRP and AOP planning cycles

  • Collaborate with fellow GMs at Aftermarket PW sites to ensure unity for Michigan-level initiatives

  • Supporting all EH&S efforts and complying with all applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules

  • Supporting the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed safety goals

  • Developing and maintaining a relationship with the bargaining unit IAM

  • Developing key personnel to maintain continued organizational strength and succession

  • Demonstrating ethical leadership and compliance

  • Supporting all employee survey efforts

  • Collaborate and monitor the Fan blade value stream for key components

  • Achieving cost of poor quality (COPQ) goals

  • Developing capacity planning models for manpower and equipment while resolving any constraints

  • Solving technical problems including improvement of tools and fixtures, equipment failures, and manufacturing process problems

  • Driving productivity and on-time delivery (OTD)  

  • Managing a team of functional managers by providing leadership and direction with an emphasis on team building through effective communications

  • Supporting Continuous Improvement (CORE) efforts

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 12 years experience

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous experience supervising a production workforce with proven leadership skills and experience

  • Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, innovation, and team building skills

  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Experience managing both hourly and salaried employees

  • Significant leadership experience in a unionized environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP software applications

  • Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry
