Corus International is seeking a Logistics Manager, Quilt & Kit Ministry to join its Global Resource Department.
This position will be fully remote, with up to 30% travel within the United States.
Job Brief
Position Summary:
The full-time Logistics Manager will serve on Lutheran World Relief's Quilt & Kit Ministry Team. LWR receives approximately $19 million annually in gifts-in-kind from Lutheran congregations and individuals from across the United States. Most of these items are collected by volunteers at local Ingatherings and transported to one of two contracted warehouses for processing, storage, and packing/preparation for shipment and distribution. S/he will be responsible for managing the complex system of domestic logistics as well as warehouse relationships, relavant programmatic data reporting and analysis, and strategy development and implementation pertinent to the domestic and donor components of this piece of the program. Critical to this role is the ability to understand the faith and driving forces of the volunteer base and to engage with this core group of LWR supporters to ensure that they have a consistently exceptional experience with the organization.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Knowledge Development and Implementation
- In coordination with the Senior Manager, develop a sustainable domestic logistics strategy for the LWR Quilt & Kit Ministry. This role is responsible for leading implementation of the final strategy.
- The team is embarking on the development of a new quilt and kit tracking system with Corus family member CGA Technologies. This role will work closely with the Senior Manager, Quilt & Kit Ministry to implement the new system and roll the platform out to warehouses and donors.
Networking and Partnership
- Serve as primary point of contact with the two contracted warehouses that service the domestic receiving, processing, and packing for the quilt and kit program. This includes coordinating seasonal collection schedules, setting processes and timelines for warehouse reporting, and supporting warehouse staff in troubleshooting and resourcing for donor engagement and questions.
- Coordinate with Key Leaders and Site Coordinators (local volunteers across the U.S.) to schedule quilt and kit collection and transportation and troubleshoot during collections as needed. This includes being seasonally available (Fall and Spring) during non-core business hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Manage vendor relationships with freight forwarders and truck drivers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of trucks for collections. Includes ensuring vendor coordination with the warehouses for smooth and cost-efficient receiving at warehouse locations.
- Coordinate internally with the Humanitarian Assistance team (responsible for partner management and quilt and kit distribution) around inventory and shared information tracking. This includes high-level coordination between the warehouses and the HA team relevant to outgoing shipment requests and planning.
