POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager - EV Fleet Operations plays a critical role in managing our electric vehicle fleet operations to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency. The incumbent utilizes a deep technical understanding of EV systems to effectively communicate with truck OEMs, internal teams, and field technicians for rapid issue resolution. The Manager – EV Fleet Operations manages a small team of technical specialists while leading the implementation and continuous improvement of EV fleet technology. The incumbent drives performance excellence through urgency, integrity, and strong ownership mentality. The Manager – EV Fleet Operations supports a core component of the Company's electrification roadmap and serves as the primary liaison between technical operations and field implementation teams.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly manages a small team of technical specialists, providing day-to-day guidance, performance coaching, and professional development. Sets clear expectations, monitors team performance metrics, and ensures alignment with fleet uptime objectives while fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Monitors EV truck fleet performance to achieve maximum uptime targets and provides regular performance reports to senior leadership. Proactively identifies potential issues and coordinates rapid response protocols with internal teams and OEM partners to minimize downtime.
Serves as the technical liaison for EV systems, with sufficient understanding to effectively communicate complex technical issues across multiple stakeholder groups including truck OEMs, maintenance teams, and operations staff. Coordinates with OEM technical experts to ensure swift problem resolution and accurate information flow.
Acts as primary liaison with truck OEMs for warranty claims, technical support, software updates, and escalated maintenance issues. Maintains strong working relationships to expedite issue resolution and optimize fleet performance. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for OEM interactions and technical processes.
Collaborates with our internal technical institute to develop EV-specific training materials, providing technical expertise and field operational insights to ensure curriculum relevance. Facilitates technician training programs at site locations, ensuring field staff receive comprehensive EV maintenance and troubleshooting skills training while adapting content to address site-specific challenges and requirements.
Performs other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong understanding of electric vehicle systems, charging infrastructure, and battery management systems sufficient to troubleshoot interoperability issues and manage complex interactions between EVs and charging equipment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with truck OEMs and charger manufacturers to resolve technical challenges and communicate solutions across diverse stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated ability to work with exceptional urgency while maintaining high standards. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for fleet performance and team results.
Proven ability to lead change initiatives and influence outcomes across multiple departments and external partners, including OEM relationships.
Knowledge of fleet operations, maintenance protocols, and performance optimization in commercial vehicle environments.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences, from field technicians to executive leadership and OEM technical teams. Strong presentation skills with proficiency in PowerPoint for creating clear, compelling technical presentations
Experience developing and delivering technical training programs, with ability to adapt content for different skill levels and learning environments.
Advanced analytical skills with ability to interpret fleet data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions for complex operational challenges.
Proven experience managing and developing small technical teams, with demonstrated ability to delegate effectively, provide clear direction, maintain team accountability, and sustain high morale in fast-paced environments.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, fleet management systems, and data analysis tools.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology Management, or related technical field - preferred.
SAE technician training or automotive certification - preferred.
