About the role

The Aerospace Corporation is the trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, solving the hardest problems and providing unmatched technical expertise. As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), we are broadly engaged across all aspects of space— delivering innovative solutions that span satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil and commercial customers. When you join our team, you’ll be part of a special collection of problem solvers, thought leaders, and innovators. Join us and take your place in space.

At Aerospace, we are committed to providing an inclusive and diverse workplace for all employees to share in our common passion and aspiration – to carry out a mission much bigger than ourselves.

The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.

This position is for a thought leader who will support transformation of readiness initiatives across USSF.  The successful candidate will be able to provide experience-based technical gap analysis and requirements to support rapid prototyping and long term acquisition of USSF exercise, training and test infrastructure.  Technical analysis, technical depth, and experience with USSF or USAF operations is necessary.  Expertise with writing and managing joint requirements will be extremely helpful.  The effort will include identification, development, and recommendation of capability needs for guardian training, exercises, wargames and enterprise test campaigns.  Successful candidate will engage with USSF support to SSC as well as guardians in USSPACECOM, INDOPACOM as well as USSF SPOC and STAROCM to complete thoughtful requirements analysis and documentation.

Work Model

This position is in Colorado Springs, CO and 100% onsite. The position is not compatible with telecommuting.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • USSF requires in depth technical knowledge to translate requirements for exercises, test, and training of the space enterprise into meaningful requirements for infrastructure
  • Focus on virtual capabilities and complementary Hardware-in-the-Loop and on-orbit capabilities to build warfighting confidence in readiness to accomplish Combatant Command Operational Plans.
  • Provide detailed technical expertise to support gap analysis and identification of requirements.
  • In addition to generating requirements, successful candidate will contribute to assessment of near term prototyping of OTTI capabilities and support analysis and requirements development for USSF training and test infrastructure
