About the role

Innovation starts from the heart. At Edwards, we put patients first. We invest a significant proportion of our revenue towards research and development to drive and develop groundbreaking medical innovations for structural heart disease and critical care. As part of our R&D Engineering team, you will work closely with our Quality and Manufacturing teams to develop the latest tools and technologies to address significant, unmet clinical needs that impact patients’ lives around the world.

Throughout our history, Edwards has helped transform the way physicians monitor and take preventative measures for cardio patients. Our Critical Care business unit specializes in advanced hemodynamic monitoring solutions, including artificial intelligence algorithms to provide predictive readings to clinicians, helping them get patients home to their families faster. It’s our driving force to help patients live longer and healthier lives. Join us and be part of our inspiring journey.

How you will make an impact:

As a Senior Principal Engineer, Machine Learning Algorithm – Critical Care R&D will leverage research, design and development experience in new medical device and product development. Strong emphasis on design and development of signal processing and machine learning algorithms for less invasive and non-invasive monitoring of cardiovascular conditions Initiate and lead in the improvement, design and optimization of highly complex signal processing algorithms, physiological models, time series models, control systems and/or machine learning models (including deep learning), experiments and tests, analyze results, provide complex recommendations, and develop reports, based on engineering principles that translate to innovative products.

  • Generate highly complex algorithm scripts, machine learning models, control systems, data analyses, work instructions, test methods, etc., to establish/characterize product and/or process specifications.

  • May lead cross functional teams through complex design control activities including requirement specs, and risk documents with substantial knowledge on design control requirements.

  • Oversee Algorithm support tasks; give instruction to technicians/engineers on conducting tests; train technicians/engineers and provide feedback; and coordinate technician/engineer work.

  • Robust skills to independently analyze and interpret very complex physiological and clinical data, animal model data, algorithm results data, Machine Learning model performance data, etc. Ability to discuss data analyses with clinicians and KOL.

  • Develop project plans to assess complex technology and drive project results.

  • Provide direction and guidance on strategies related to technical solution areas.

  • Proactively identify issues, achieve resolution, and resolve problems of highly significant.

  • complexity on designing parts, components, and subsystems.

  • Train, coach, and guide lower-level employees on more complex procedures.

  • Identify unmet clinical needs and new opportunities by discussing and interacting with KOLs and visiting hospitals.

  • Incidental
