Electrical Technician - Wireline Winch Service

About the role

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow company and client work instructions for the installation of electrical components to comply with industry standards.
  • Diagnose cause of equipment malfunction through observations and testing based on related schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Disassemble, clean, prepare, install, and test assemblies as per job work scope.
  • Provide supporting diagnosis reports and replacement parts list when troubleshooting.
  • Function test equipment to specifications detailed in the assembly operator manual and factory acceptance testing procedures. 
  • Engage in additional job activities as requested by the District/Branch or Service Manager/Supervisor.
  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  An associates degree or higher is preferred
  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • 2 or more years’ experience within the oil and gas industry or with related industrial electrical equipment.
  • Comp EX certification preferred.
  • CANbus and MODbus training/knowledge also preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have excellent understanding of electrical industry standards.
  • Must have excellent understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Able to use testing devices to identify and report electrical issues.
  • Ability to understand and follow FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) Procedures alongside Mechanical Technicians.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications i.e., Word, Excel, Teams,
  • Ability to connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Install safety and distribution components (switches, resistors, circuit breaker panels)
  • Install hydraulic and pneumatic control devices (valves, control devices, fittings, filters)
  • Able to install, calibrate and maintain electronics devices and equipment as required.
  • Experience working with different measuring devices and control systems (PLC’s).
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge an advantage
  • Knowledge of well site and wireline winch operations a plus.
  • May include travel to other NOV and/or customer locations as required to support our service facility.
