Academic Qualifications / Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related discipline
  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., MIA, ACCA, ICAEW, CPA) or a Master'sdegree in a related discipline is highly preferrable
  • Membership in recognized bodies such as the Malaysian Institute of Accountants(MIA), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) or Chartered TaxPractitioner would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of the power generation industry, including regulatory environment,market dynamics, and financial performance drivers
  • Good knowledge of financial accounting standards and reporting requirements
  • Understanding of financial risks and the ability to develop mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with local and international tax laws and MFRS
  • Good understanding withholding tax rates on interest, dividends, royalties, andservices across various jurisdictions.
  • Good understanding and application of the arm's length principle for intercompanytransactions
  • Good knowledge of accounting for income taxes under relevant accounting standards.
  • Good knowledge of government incentives for renewable energy projects, energyefficiency, and decarbonization
  • Understanding the tax implications

Requirement

  • Malaysian citizenship
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Minimum of 10 years of dedicated tax experience, with a significant portion in a senior role focusing on corporate tax, international tax, and/or project finance tax.
  • Experience in the power generation, renewable energy, infrastructure, or a similarly capital-intensive industry is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in a reputable accounting firm's tax division and/or a multinational corporate tax department is highly desirable.
  • In depth knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations including Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA), Pioneer Status, Investment Tax Allowance (ITA) in Malaysia and other relevant tax incentives.
  • Familiarity with project finance structures, including tax aspects of equity and debt arrangement, join ventures and M&A activities.
  • Solid understanding of cross-border taxation, Double Taxation Agreements (DTAs), and withholding tax implications.
  • Strong working knowledge of transfer pricing rules and OECD guidelines.
  • Competency in deferred tax computation and tax provisioning in compliance with MFRS/IFRS.
  • Proven experience managing tax audits, addressing tax authority queries, and resolving tax disputes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial implications of tax issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to senior management and non-tax stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including external tax advisors and financial institutions.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks across the organization.

Accountability & Responsibility

Tax Planning & Advisory:

  • Provide advisory services on tax matters, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and indirect taxes.
  • Recommend the best tax structure while ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Analyse the tax impact of new business ventures, contracts, and investments.
  • Keep the company informed on updates to tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance.
  • Advise on transfer pricing compliance, ensuring alignment with regulations.

Tax Incentives & Optimization:

  • Identify and assess opportunities for tax incentives, exemptions, and grants applicable to the company.
  • Lead the application process for tax incentives, exemptions, and grants from relevant authorities.
  • Ensure documentation and compliance with requirements to obtain and maintain tax incentives.
  • Monitor the impact of tax incentives on the company’s financial performance.

Cross-border & International Tax Matters:

  • Provide advisory on overseas transactions and international tax considerations.
  • Ensure adherence to withholding tax requirements for cross-border transactions.
  • Manage tax risks related to cross-border transactions and overseas operations.
  • Assess the impact of overseas tax laws and develop
