The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work

Reporting directly to an Associate Warden for Custody, this position is to provide clerical support to the Custody Section. Additional job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:
• Planning work, understanding, and carrying out both oral and written instructions, reviewing completed task to ensure accuracy, and meeting daily and monthly deadlines.
• Performing a variety of office and/or technical tasks to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents, or materials.
• Preparing and maintaining logs, coordinating tracking systems, and researching offender grievances.
• Receiving telephone calls from other staff, department personnel, community volunteers, citizens, press, offenders’ attorneys and families and other agencies.
• Navigating Offender Population Unified System (OPUS) regarding offender records.

Salary Range: $32,100 – $51,249

This is a full-time position, working Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM, with State Benefits.

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About New Hanover Correctional Center:

New Hanover Correctional Center is located in Wilmington, North Carolina and houses up to 400 male offenders in a minimum custody facility.
