Position Overview

 

The Senior Accountant supports day to day accounting activities for our manufacturing facilities.  Responsibilities include assisting with month end responsibilities, SOX controls, cost analysis, inventory management and general support of the finance team.  This position will work closely with the site and functional managers to ensure processes and procedures are in place and are followed while seeking actionable improvement opportunities.  The ideal candidate will have a deep background, high-level skillset, and progressive advancement in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

•  
• Manage account reconciliation process for multiple accounts including banks, disbursements, and payroll accounts
• Participate in month-end, quarterly and annual financial closing cycles
• Cost accounting in a standard cost system including material, labor and overhead rate analysis
• Prepare and analyze journal entries
• Prepare monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting
• Review inventory processes and analyze inventory valuation
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial tasks
• Assist with external and internal control audits
• Assist in special projects as needed
• Perform ad hoc analysis

 

 

Education/Experience

 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
• Cost accounting experience in a similar Financial or Accounting role
• Advanced MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)  
• SAP or AX Dynamics experience a plus
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
• Demonstrated awareness of all elements of a division’s financial statements
• Manufacturing industry & cost accounting experience required
• Attention to detail around producing high-quality products and meeting deadlines
