Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) has been committed to delivering exceptional emergency and specialty veterinary care, ensuring pets receive the advanced medical attention they deserve for many years. Recognizing the need for high-quality veterinary services in underserved communities, GCVS is expanding its reach with a secondary satellite location in Webster, TX. This new facility will bring the same expertise, state-of-the-art technology, and compassionate care to a broader area, making critical and specialized treatments more accessible to pet owners. With this expansion, GCVS continues its mission of enhancing the well-being of animals and supporting the communities that love them.
Compensation:
- Licensed Veterinary Technicians:
- $22-$30/hr, based on experience
- Veterinary Assistants:
- $18-$24/ hr, based on experience
- + $3/hr weekend differential
- +$2/hr overnight differential
Schedule:
- Full Time (Sundays – Saturdays)
- 3x12 hour shifts
- 6pm-6am
- 8pm-8am
- Alternating Weekends/ holidays
- 3x12 hour shifts
As an Emergency LVT/Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing life-saving care to pets. Your duties include:
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to all hospitalized and emergency patients.
- Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
- Perform key technical tasks including restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, radiographs, lab work, and medication administration.
- Accurately prepare and administer treatments per veterinary orders and hospital protocols.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated, top-level patient care.
- Respond swiftly to STAT calls and follow emergency care protocols.
- Create treatment estimates, review plans with clients, process payments, and manage admissions/discharges.
- Communicate with clients professionally, offering empathy and clear information.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Support hospital cleanliness, safety, and inventory management.
- Perform anesthesia and sedation following established protocols.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with additional duties as needed.
- Licensed Veterinary Technicians or Experienced Veterinary Assistants with at least 2 year of experience.
- Prior experience in Emergency and Critical Care is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and make informed decisions in fast-paced situations.
- A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to patient well-being.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
