We are now looking for a Dynamic Positioning (DP) Project Engineer to join our US based team in San Diego, delivering solutions for Dynamic Positioning in the maritime Navy and Commercial segment. The preferred locations for this position are San Diego, CA or New Orleans, LA

 

What you will be doing

The DP Project Engineer will be joining a team of technical highly skilled colleagues developing and engineering DP solutions for New Build and Retrofit projects. The team delivers solutions for global customers in both Navy and commercial segments, such as cruise, Off-shore and other special purpose vessels where high performing DP solutions are critical for our customers operation. A maritime background is a plus, but the right skillset, attitude and willingness to learn – we are confident bringing the right candidate to a high performer at the right pace.

 

As DP Project Engineer your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with experts to resolve technical challenges and write impactful reports.
  • Provide engineering support both in the office and onboard vessels(seldom).
  • In rare cases participate in commissioning of DP control systems, including calibration, control system tuning, Customer Acceptance Test and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Support development of algorithms and software for the marine industry including offshore and wind farm vessels, navy ships, cruise ships and mega yachts.
  • Work with regulatory bodies in certifying system documentation and equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on Control Theory combined with strong programming skills or equivalent relevant background.
  • Familiarity with E-Plan, SolidWorks and or AutoCAD is an advantage, Visual Studio and MATLAB for data analysis.
  • A self-driven attitude with strong analytical skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on efficiency, standardization, and effectiveness.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with algorithm development, including estimation and control theory.
  • Experience with PLC and network interfaces.
