Department: Facilities Planning and Construction
Ā General Statement of Job
The Senior Facilities Project Manager coordinates facilities planning, design, and construction with institutional planning processes. Supervises the project management staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates with the Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Construction and the Director of Facilities Planning and Construction to plan, develop, and implement facilities capital improvement projects.
- Coordinates mentoring and advising for project management staff.
- Coordinates with project management staff to develop project schedules.
- Coordinates with the Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Construction and the Director of Facilities Planning and Construction to prepare project assignments.
- Assists with the development of capital improvement and construction budgets for various types of projects.
- Provides direct project oversight for capital improvements, renewals and replacements, and space management projects, to satisfy owner requirements in space programming, design quality, cost, schedule, and economy of operations, including review of working drawings, specifications and bid proposals.
- Participates in facility audits and conducts condition assessments.
- Assists with developing facilities space utilization programs for design of capital improvement projects.
- Assists with coordination of current and future campus master plans and maintains campus master utility drawings, project drawing files, and various other records.
- Reviews plans and specifications for construction feasibility and compliance with college design guidelines and standards.
- Assists in the review of construction submittals and test results.
- Coordinates effective filing of planning documents, construction documents, and electronic drawing files.
- Oversees maintaining electronic facilities space databases through use of facilities management software.
- Coordinates and plans utilization and reallocation of facilities space.
- Participates in the planning of additional space needs to accommodate growth.
- Participates in the procurement of architectural, engineering and construction services.
- Participates in review of payment for design and construction related applications.
- Travels throughout the college district, as needed.
- Recommends for hire, supervises, trains, assigns schedules, and evaluates the project management staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field required.
- At least five (5) years of experience in facilities planning, design, construction, supervision and/or facilities/project management required.
