The Port of San Francisco is an enterprise agency of the City and County of San Francisco and is governed by a Commission of five members appointed by the Mayor. The Port Commission is responsible for overseeing a broad range of waterfront commercial, maritime, and public access facilities that are held in public trust for the people of California. The Port’s jurisdiction covers approximately 7.5 miles of waterfront land from Pier 98, near Hunter’s Point in the southern part of San Francisco, to Fisherman’s Wharf in the northern part of the City.

Job Description

The Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit, under the general direction of the Port’s Director of Technology, is responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of the Port’s inventory of software solutions. Additionally, the Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit will act to bring technical expertise to the Port Modernization program and its system improvements, acting as a liaison between technical staff, project management, leadership, and stakeholders throughout the projects’ lifecycles.

The Enterprise Applications unit is comprised of four positions, each responsible for the maintenance and oversight of current systems and charged with taking on the role of technical lead for incoming systems. The Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit will be responsible for ensuring that their team is equipped and engaged to take on this role.

The Director of Technology is the Port’s designated Information Security Officer, however many of these responsibilities, as they pertain to the Port’s enterprise applications, have been delegated to the Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit. The Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit is responsible for ensuring that all software that is acquired or developed by the Port meets Citywide and industry-standard information security standards.

Oversight and management of the Port’s network infrastructure, workstations, telephony, and access control policies is the responsibility of the Manager of Information Technology. The Manager of the Enterprise Applications unit will serve as the chief liaison between the Enterprise Applications unit and the Information Technology Unit, ensuring coordination regarding the infrastructure supporting the Port’s software inventory.
