Education
Required – Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred – Associate’s degree or completion of an END Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or completion of a Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) Program accredited by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)
Work Experience
Required – Clinical experience equivalent to 3 or more years training in the field
Certifications
Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Preferred – Eligible for Certification in Neurodiagnostic Technology
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work efficiently under pressure.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule, such as nights, weekends, extended shifts, etc.
Job Duties
- Gathers appropriate information from the patient, patient's records, and family members, as well as other neurological symptoms and medications to writes an accurate comprehensive patient history.
- Recognizes patient or environmental artifacts and documents, eliminates or takes proper measures to monitor the artifact.
- Ensures patient safety always by taking appropriate action during patient emergency situations.
- Interacts with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the clinical staff and explains test procedures to the patient and family members present.
- Practices basic infection control procedures relating to patient and equipment including electrodes.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
