Essential Functions:
- Serve as subject matter expert with prospects and coordinate various internal resources to support business development;
- Collaborate effectively with key colleagues within State National to bring the appropriate resources to bear to evaluate, close, and service qualified program opportunities;
- Conduct thorough needs analysis/assessment to uncover prospects needs. Provide consultative advice to clients and trading partners;
- Become influential at many levels of client and prospect organizations to win new and maintain and grow recurring business;
- Ensure reinsurance and program relationships are secure and financially sound, and that all parties clearly understand the contractual and financial arrangements, scopes of work, and policies and procedures;
- Maintain an awareness of and exercise sound business judgment in such areas as market conditions, competitive activities, general economic conditions, and related matters;
- Take ownership of responsibilities, work diligently to ensure goals and objectives are met and exceeded at all levels within the organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced communication skills, including consensus building, negotiating ability, and presentation skills. Able to, in both written and oral presentations, confidently communicate vision and direction making constituents comfortable in partnering with State National on successful ventures;
- Solid, working knowledge of P&C insurance industries, with an understanding of various models of distribution;
- Strong commercial instincts, with the knowledge and business intuition required to create synergies by linking key trading partners resulting in a win-win for all parties;
- Professional qualities should include strong leadership skills, decisiveness, assertiveness, and proactive.
- Should be innovative, have a "can do" attitude, and a desire and ability to collaborate across multiple businesses and groups and influence at the very highest levels;
- Able to successfully direct multiple projects and ensure quality deliverables on time;
- Willingness to travel on a frequent and as needed basis;
- Demonstrate success in following through and completing routine tasks;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office, 2 days remote, with preference being in office.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably with a focus on either primary or reinsurance distribution.
