Job Summary:

• The Operations Manager is responsible for the direction, strategy, planning and execution for the company’s manufacturing operations to ensure safety of personnel and on-time delivery of high-quality products that conform to customer specifications.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for the manufacturing of high-quality customer ordered items and the on-time delivery of those items that conform to customer specifications.
• Work closely with manufacturing supervisors & leads to meet established metrics and challenge status quo. 
• Implement and manage operating procedures, policies, training programs, safety programs, and work practices.
• Directs operations to minimize material usage variance, scrap, and rework.
• Provide leadership for operational excellence programs, including continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective & preventive action.
• Develop & manage working relationships with other departments to facilitate support required to meet operation objectives.
• Apply a team approach to problem-solving & develop a systematic method to foster a continuous improvement culture.
• Manage policy deployment in the areas of manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, on-time-in-full delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
• Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development. 
• Responsible for production cost control, waste reduction, product quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
• Propose, evaluate, and implement equipment and system improvements as necessary.
• Manage onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of manufacturing leads, operators, and supervisor; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
• Develops manufacturing leadership to operate to exacting standards for quality, on-time delivery, employee safety, manufacturing costs and efficiencies, healthy employee relations for maximum employee engagement.
• Effectively manages the scheduling and manufacturing process to reduce customer lead times and maintain acceptable backlog of orders.

• Performs other required duties as needed in addition to the essential duties and responsibilities described above
• Observe and promote Company standards and policies on safety, quality, and productivity.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in engineering, manufacturing or business administration.
• Over ten years of experience in engineering and/or operations, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Proven ability to manage effectively and drive results.
• Ability to articulate vision/strategy to company leaders, peers and subordinates and gain commitment as well as influence behaviors to drive results.
• Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Direct management/supervisory experience
• Demonstrated experience with case study, mathematical analysis, and conclusion.
• Demonstrated experience in servicing and responding to customers.
• Demonstrated experience in making presentations to both large/small group settings.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, finished medical device preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485:2003 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 (preferred)
• Demonstrated excellent (written and verbal) communication and effective human interaction skills.
