Job Summary

Under the supervision and direction of the Vice President for UDAE/CEO of the Cal Poly Foundation, this position will provide administrative support on varied and complex projects associated with the Office of the Vice President for UDAE. Administrative support requires the coordination, prioritization and monitoring through completion of complex project assignments. 

Department Summary

The role of the University Development & Alumni Engagement Division (UDAE) is to foster strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance support for Cal Poly. UDAE establishes and implements an overall advancement program, including coordinating fundraising, donor relations, gift processing, trust and endowment management, training and systems support for the donor database, and Cal Poly Foundation support and administration. Key Qualifications

  • Ability to initiate, coordinate, prioritize, and monitor through completion of project assignments, utilizing sound principled written, oral, and editing practices. 

  • Ability to understand, investigate and analyze problems with a broad perspective, anticipate administrative impacts and implications and recommend solutions.   

  • Ability to anticipate and analyze operational and procedural problems and address them proactively by making recommendations, taking appropriate courses of action, and exercising good judgment in decision making. 

  • Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn, interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting operations and programs in University Development and Alumni Engagement.   

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to research, develop and evaluate policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. 

  • Thorough knowledge of office systems, methods, procedures, and practices. 

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to respond to all inquiries and requests effectively and communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.  Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.   

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately produce letters, invitations, spreadsheets, agreements, and reports. 

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. 

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. One year of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. 

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $68,500 - $83,000 annually

Classification Range: $46,548 - $89,856 annually
