Student - Touba Gardens Federal Work Study Internship

Touba Gardens is a local urban garden looking to provide fresh food to the Mid-North community neighborhoods. They are looking for help in increasing their online presence, community outreach, volunteer opportunities, brainstorming and designing their own farm stand, and connecting with other local farmers. This position may be eligible for academic credit; speak with your academic advisor if you are seeking credit. 

What You May Do in This Position

• Assist with day-to-day garden tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, composting, and general garden maintenance.
• Help increase the garden’s online presence by developing engaging social media content, taking photos, and sharing weekly updates about harvests and community activities.
• Support community outreach by connecting with local residents, neighborhood associations, community centers, and youth programs.
• Recruit, schedule, and coordinate volunteers for garden workdays and community events.
• Build relationships with other local farmers and food organizations to explore produce exchanges, wholesale partnerships, and shared market opportunities.
• Contribute to record-keeping and garden organization, including crop tracking, harvest logs, and volunteer sign-in.

Pay 

This position can pay $12 per hour to qualified Federal Work Study-eligible applicants, up to the full amount of dollars assigned to the application's FWS aid package by Butler's Financial Aid Office. Non-work-study-eligible applications may do this internship for academic credit, but not for pay.
