Job Description Summary:

PayPal is seeking an experienced, highly engaged, and dynamic leader to lead our Payroll, Time & Attendance team. Reporting to the VP of People Shared Services, the ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering best-in-class optimized People services to the enterprise and hyper-focused on flawless execution. Success in this position will require the development of an extensive internal network, both within and beyond the People function and an ability to work well with and through others to effectively execute. The successful candidate will navigate easily between both strategic and hands-on items on the to-do list, building a strong culture of continued process improvement and leveraging available technologies to their fullest.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead global payroll team ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for ~30,000 employees in 27 countries. 
    • Set the strategic direction for payroll and time & attendance operations. 
    • Develop and empower a high-performing, service-oriented team, while driving compliance, innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration. 
    • Proactively partner and collaborate with key partners such as Compensation, Benefits, Stock Administration, IT, Finance, Tax, Legal, Risk, and third-party service providers to ensure seamless, compliant practices. 
    • Oversee payroll audits.  Perform and monitor internal controls related to payroll to comply with SOX and other country-specific legal requirements; recommend improvements to optimize processes. 
    • Ensure issues are addressed promptly and root causes are understood and addressed effectively. 
    • Provide regular payroll-related operational and financial metrics and insights to leadership. 
    • May take on adjacent functions over time. 

Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years managing payroll in a large public company with a global footprint. 
    • Experience with Workday and ADP payroll and timekeeping systems required. 
    • Deep knowledge of global payroll operations, including regulations, taxes, equity reporting, mobility, etc. 
    • Strong understanding of upstream data inputs and end-to-end integrated processes related to time, attendance, and payroll.
    • Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills, coupled with an ownership mentality to ensure tasks are seen through to completion.
    • Highly skilled at simplifying and operationalizing processes and systems to drive efficient delivery of services at scale. Eager to learn new things and apply knowledge to innovate, improve/simplify processes.
    • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and the ability to maintain strict data protection protocols to safeguard sensitive employee information.
    • Thrive in a global, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment.  Ability to manage high job complexity and constant multi-tasking with exceptional attention to detail.  Well organized, able to prioritize well, work efficiently.  Shows flexibility as workloads fluctuate.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively with global teams at all levels (including senior leadership) within a highly matrixed organization.
    • A genuine interest and ability to connect with, build and maintain relationships with people at all levels and across organizational and geographic boundaries.
    • A proven leader in building high-performing teams and mentoring/developing talent.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) with a focus in Accounting, HR or Business preferred.
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
